MAIN ISSUES

ECONOMY FOR WORKING VERMONTERS
In our communities and across the entire country it is harder and harder for households to make ends meet. With the rising cost of housing, gas prices, and groceries, families are making difficult choices in their budgets. Katarina believes that a full-time job should pay enough to support a family. State policies should ensure that everyone has their basic needs met. We also must consider the intended consequences of legislation: social, racial, gender, and environmental justice.
COMMUNITIES WITH CARE
A thriving community has access to health care, mental health services, child care, substance use support, and independent & senior living services. Vermonters deserve affordable and accessible care. No one should ever have to choose between their well-being and financial stability. This requires keeping local facilities and services open; in our rural areas, residents already face long travel times for appointments and to travel to child care, and further closures will only worsen the gap in care.

SUPPORTING EDUCATION
Education is embedded with the history of our state and schools are the hubs of our communities. Access to education is important from child care to K-12 to post-secondary opportunities. In Vermont over 90% of high schoolers express interest in education after graduation, yet only 70% pursue any training. We need to continue addressing barriers to pursuing postsecondary - college, technical training, and certificate programs - to support student aspirations and have the skills we need for our workforce.
